Links in the WFE?

Would there be a way to edit links into a regional WFE, kind of like the [thread] tags? It would be more convenient than anything for regions with off-site forums... or is there some Jolt rule against such a thing?

You have always had the ability to put links in your WFE. I don't think you can make a clickable link like we do here with HTTP tags. That would be really cool if we could. :):)

Highly unlikely. I do not like not being able to control where the link goes and what type of link it is. There's a significant security risk there if I do it incorrectly and I'd prefer not to risk it.

Fair enough. It's not like copy/pasting those forum links is very difficult anyway.

Any way we could just link to InvisionFree / ProBoards sites?

I have long advocated a thing in regional controls where you can type in a link and it is then to be aproved by the mods and would appear at the end of the WFE.

Would indeed be handy for offsite forums, although of course it is very easy to abuse..

I agree with Goobergunchia, why not just have the mods approve the links before they are added. Being able to put links to offsite forums would be a great help. And if the forum went bad someone could always report it, and have the mods remove the link. Just make sure the person who requested the link knows that NS cannot be held liable for any off site activity.

That is why I said that the links can be reported and removed. That is also why I stated that there should be a contract making sure NS is not held liable for that link.

A: ) That was Loop's suggestion, not Goober's.
B: ) Goobergunch suggested a blanket opening for the two most popular offsite forum hosts, which makes a fair bit of sense. No mod approval needed.
C: ) Loop, there are 14,691 regions, each with a WFE. Some people like making daily changes. Do you honestly think having some kind of approval mechanism would be easy? First, the approval mechanism has to be coded, then incorporated into the game. Anytime someone wants a new link, they have to somehow notify a moderator (can you say "Telegram Hell" or "Getting Help Overload"?). Then the mod has to navigate to that region and click something or post something or approve something or release something to allow the link to go live. Alternately, they click the approval button which sends a telegram to the Delegate / Founder who then goes to a special edit box that does permit live links, only they have to be on the honor system that they're not posting g0atze or tubgirl or somethingNo, there is no way to make a mod-approved link system feasible in a game as big as this one.
