Yes, I have a broadband connection, and this is the only place I am having any problems.

The forums are slow. It looks like there's a lot of cool stuff going on here, but usually it takes a long time to load, particularly when you're using diallup. That, and there's so many threads things updated yesterday get pushed to the back pretty fast.

I suppose it can't be helped though. Afterall, its good to keep Nation-States not-expensive.

(diversion)
I would like to do a lot more roleplaying, though. Are there any regions here that have active forums of their own and do lots of RPing outside of the nation-states forum? If so I *might* be interested in joining one.

There's nothing really you can do about the forums, unless your computer is infected with a virus or something.

Remember, anyone on the Jolt server will slow the forum down, not just the users on the NationStates bit. I believe it's something your gonna have to put up with.

If this was a report to those who can do something, then I'm sure they've already noticed. ;)

Not entirely true. I belive that most of Jolt uses www.forums.jolt.co.uk while we use forums2.jolt.co.uk, so we do have our own forum server. However, you're right, it is slowing down again. If this keeps up, I'll poke them.

Salusa, I use the forums.jolt.co.uk server, and it was very slow this afternoon my time (about the time of this complaint) as well.

I've often found when the regular Jolt server is slow, NS is slow, and vice versa... especially lately. I always try to circumvent going from the main NS page to the forums if it's slow by going the roundabout way.

yeah i've noticed that too that the forums are slow even under the jolt system. If it helps any try closing your eyes and not look at the computer to me I think it makes it speed up. yes I am a nutcase.

Just like roads. As soon as you add in the new lanes, or new servers, it is already outdated. But hey, I remember the days where it wasn't just slow, it crashed every other page. This one may be slow, but it is still faster, and hasn't crashed yet [slight exaggeration, but you get the point], so I'm not complaining. :D

The forum link (and the recent threads links) on the NS site seem to use forums2.jolt.co.uk, while it's possible to use the forums.jolt.co.uk server, at least if you bookmark it like I do. :p Allows me to keep two nations logged on to the forums at the same time. ;)

That means they need to add more lanes.

Could the fact that more people are on winter break and have more time to go on the forums have anything to do with it?

Possibly, but it happens usually around 11 PM EST

In feb 04 they did. I stopped posting because they were too slow, but started when they picked up in march

When eiiiiiii was your age, the forums not only crashed every five minutes, but you often posted as many as eight times when you only meant to post once. And we liked it (of course, it helped our post counts...).

But it seems the forums always slow down at 11 p.m. EST for some reason... occasionally at other times during the day. It's annoying but it's nowhere near as bad as it was on the old servers. EDIT: I just noticed Kahta's post that mentioned the same time I just did. It's not just my imagination then!

Maybe they're doing forum maintenance at 11 pm.

Every night at 11PM?

It's possible the Jolt mods come on and check out the forums. Don't forget, 11 PM EST is a different time in different places. It may be 2 PM someplace else where they live.

Ugh, I remember all to well, they even deleted inactive accounts off the forum to try and speed it up, (which explains why my apparent register date is Feb, not Jan, like it should be. Feb being when my nation had a forum account again.)

*sighs*

Ahh the old days...

Well...

11pm EST == 6am GMT

Jolt's on GMT, at 6am's a pretty reasonable time for routine maintainance, I guess.

These forums? Bad? I've not had it crash once while I'm attempting to log on and cause me to be unable to log on for a week yet. Hell, compared to the old forums, these are heaven.

EST = GMT -5, Hack.

4 am is an even better time for routine maintenance, which makes it no less annoying to us Americans.

4am isn't really a great time for routine maintenance, the maintenance would be at a lesser standard because after all, 4am is the middle of the night for Jolt.
