Can I use paint to post pictures or maps on here,
If not which programs should I use?

You can use the "Attach Files" option to upload any kind of file. While paint is not the optimal option for working with graphics, it serves passably well, and it's free and simple to use.

I believe Sal stated that the upload feature has been disabled.
"Valid file extensions: " list shows no valid extensions, and upload attempts return an error message.
Better check your sources, UP. I think you gave a bad answer.

I just tried to upload a small mp3 file. Result - "sum of files uploaded by Snub Nose 38 0 bytes"...

You can by clicking on the IMAGE-icon, but you need to have to put the picture on the web. You can do this by using such programs as posted in the foto-thread in 'General'.

What is "Paint?"
And also, yes, it is true that you cannot post attachments any longer.

Since I had already stated this and backed it up with testing and examples, it didn't really need to be repeated. If you wanted to take the time to research the post where Sal said the attachment feature had been disabled, that would have been actually helpful.
Failing that, please stop posting authoritiative answers when you have no actual authority to make such statements. You are not a mod, and you are not adding anything to the conversation.

That sounds a bit authoritiative, too, Fris. ;)
IMHO, his post was not authoratitive at all, and he was asking a valid question about what Paint is... not everyone knows it comes with Windows, and he mght as well ask here instead of posting it elsewhere.

I was agreeing only because I was already posting here. I would not have posted that if I weren't already posting about Paint.

And, thanks for coming to my defense.

Frisbeeteria might have been rude, but he was right. There's really no point in posting if you're adding nothing to the thread. And now that we've gotten way off topic...
You can use image hosting services on the web (http://www.imageshack.us/, http://photobucket.com/, among others) to link to on this forum for any pictures you make in paint.
