Where's Canada?

If you try to create a nation named "Canada" it says that a nation named Canada already exists (not that the name is reserved for a former nation). But if you try to visit Canada, it says the nation cannnot be found.

Either it exists or not, right?

Does it?

Am I missing something?

No, I'd say it's pretty "former".

I've noticed nations that were deleted for rule breaking have the same trait.

Checking "canada"... RESERVED. That name was used by a former nation.

I don't get anything that says it exists. Is it possible you had an extra letter or space somewhere?

If a national name isn't taken, you'd create that nation when you click submit; otherwise, you'd get the nation's name was already taken regardless of whether it is reserved or in use currently.

Oh, I'm sorry, I assumed people actually would use the Check name box (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/check_name.cgi?name=canada) to see if the name was taken. :p

Either way you only have to type the animal, currency, motto, email, password, and password repeat once. So one way is "Almost" as easy as another. It's just the dropdowns that you have to redo if you don't use the namechecker and then only if you changed them from the defaults. So people probably do it both ways.

Assuming in NationStates is like accepting the truth from a pathological liar; it never quite makes sense. :p
