How are the World Rankings calculated for stuff like Largest Sodapop Sector?

Through rankings generated from internal variables within the game that are not available to the NS public.

If [violet] and Salusa showed everyone all the cards in their hands, it wouldn't be much fun to play them, would it?

I was just thinking of making a NS economy calculator.

There are several NS economy calculators, two of which I use. However, these calculators are somewhat limited in what they can do; while they can tell you some general economic stats and estimate your government's budget, they are not specific enough to tell you how large your Soda Sales industry is.

Thirdgeek economic calculator (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?) (won't work for regions>100 nations, only updates once a day)

Sunset economic calculator (http://www.sunsetrpg.com/nsxmlparser.php) (seems to update simultaneoulsly right after game updates)

Personally, I prefer Thirdgeek as it doesn't have the black market interfering with my GDP :) , but Sunset is still really good, especially when dealing with nations in large regions.

What would a NS economy calculator need that depends on UN Rankings? I don't think that an ecocalculator would need to show nations how liberal they are, they can just look at the civil + political freedoms ranks...

Well, you could design a calculator that takes as input a nation's basic stats, population and economy rating for example, and it's UN ranking as some function of it's relationship to the total number of world nations, and then use that output to graph a relationship based on real world corresponding data, bump it up a few steps for NS's generally more powerful and militant world, and...
