Err...I didn't think this would actually work, but...

So I just got a telegram from the Compliance Ministry (which I promptly deleted). At one time I had tried to put the Compliance Ministry on my Ignore list, and it gave me a message saying I can't ignore that user or whatever, so I knew that there were certain things that could not be ignored. Now I have a telegram from the NationStates Moderators account in my inbox. So when I saw the Compliance Ministry telegram, I had an idea (dangerous things, those ideas). I checked the little box beside the telegram and clicked the button at the bottom of the page that adds a sender to the ignore list. I got this message:
Added NationStates Moderators. You will no longer receive telegrams from this nation.
To manage your Ignore List, see the bottom of this page.
So would some Mod or Admin like to test this and see if players can actually Ignore telegrams from the NationStates Moderators account? You could just send me another telegram to see if it actually works.

ROFL!
Somehow I think that's going to get declared illegal if it does work. But maybe not, since NationStates Moderators isn't really a nation.

That's the thing. It's displayed the same way as a dead nation, just like the compliance ministry. That's why I didn't think it would work.

I would have thought there would be a safeguard against this already in place.. maybe there wasn't... maybe there was just a little bug at the time... Hopefully Salusa can get a look at this thread

Ignore List
No senders are blocked.
i don't think it blocks the TM's.
(but i could always check by making another nation named 'Max Barry') :D

Yeah, I tried that when I originally coded it. It is specifically designed not to add "NationStates Moderators" to you block list (though even if it did, it wouldn't work). However, it was easiest to make it a "silent failure". In other words, it doesn't do what you ask, and fails to tell you about it. As HCE noticed, it never actually gets added.

that's what I had figured, it surely would not have been overlooked in the design process

Thanks for clearing that up, Sal. I just didn't understand why it would not even tell me that I could not do it, when it tells me just that if I try to put the Compliance Ministry on my Ignore list.

How hard would it be to implement a feature that nations within a region cannot block their Founder from sending them a telegram? I've had that happen when sending out passwords, etc. and it's highly annoying.

Ah, I do... lol... I've made an amendment to our region's Constitution after it happened the first time to consider it treason.

Or it could be a prelude to invasion! Though the cure is still the same. ;)
