I was wondering if you can progress the game by hitting a button, like ending a turn in games similar to this.. Just wondering.

Nope. It's a text-based game where you, for the most part, propel the action if so desire.

To do so would mean the game would have to update at least your nation much more frequently. If everyone started doing this, with an average of 1,000 nations or more on at any given time, the server would crash within minutes.
