Lack of available NationState names.

NationStates that go inactive should have their names freed up from the database for new people to use, I spent about 20-30 minutes trying to find a name that wasn't already taken.

Well, freeing up inactive names would let people use old names that they like but it would also let people steal original ideas from someone who probably spent "20 - 30 minutes thinking up a name". Not to be mean, but it's not that hard to think up a name. Your imagnation is the only limit.

It's not gonna happen, look around several other threads that linger these forums to why.

Besides, if you did something memorable on NS, then died of inactivity, would you like it if some random person came along and claimed credit?

Besides, there are several names up for grabs left, just make a word up if your that stuck.

That is one of the reasons for the name-bans. Also, this is done to prevent the mods from accidentally banning you for no reason other than that you share the name of a Delete-on-Sight nation from months ago. And thirdly, inactive nations can be revived - you go to the Getting Help page and ask for it under "Other". If a nation came along and took your name, then you decide you want that nation back, what are the mods going to say?

Option 1: Uh, sorry, so-and-so came in and took that name. You can't have your nation back.

Option 2: Ok, sure! I'll just go and Delete this guy, who stole your name, and has done absolutely nothing illegal in his stay here, so that you can have your dead nation back.

Don't think so. Just think up of some random word that may not even be a word, like my nation's name, and go with it. If you must, stick a dash somewhere in the name you want. Just be careful you don't end up imitating anyone.

I think if you come into this game with a very interesting name, chances are someone else hasn't found it. Any common name or nouns are going to be gone, one has to assume that.

As well as any variations thereof.

Hersfold - If that was aimed at me, (as you quoted me) I'm well aware ;)

Anyway, can this thread be locked? Original topic was answered.

No, I was elaborating on your statement. I kind of figured you would know what to do. :p :)

I've had no problems coming up with any name for any of my many puppets. Usually takes a few seconds to come up with something.

Yes. I always make up words. After all, 'Joe' was taken. Very sad. So then, I combined 'Joe' and 'Asia' to make mine. Combining/creating words = great fun.

This way, I can say semi-offensive things. And nobody would be any wiser. ;)

Nor have I, and I have more than a few...

In fact, I just created two new ones that I've been planning for a while, and got both names on the first attempt.
