I think the minimum population for submitting issues is too high.

Why such a high population requirement for submitting issues? I've got some ideas I think are cool, but my population is only 67 million after almost a month on NS.

If I had to guess I would say that it's to stop n00bs (not newbs) from joining, waiting a week then sending off a bunch of completely stupid issues and leaving.

Correct. Also that by the time your at 500 [edit from 200] million population, you've had a good chance to read through many issues and know how they work.

I thought you had to have a minimum 500 million population to submit issues? Has it changed? Or have I always thought wrong?

Actually I think it is, God knows why I put 200.

Si. Also, I think Siroc was getting a ridiculous flood of issues each day, and this helped to alleviate the flow... a little.

I know for a time, the issue submission minimum population bar wasn't working right after the Jolt move... I don't know if it was fixed.

It was. However, I thought that it gave you a "Sorry, try again when you hit 500" message if you were below that - not that it hid the link. From what Jeremy said up top, it sounds like I was wrong...

I must have hit both sides of the change, 'cause when I first tried to submit an issue (several weeks ago), I was told about the 500 minimum. Then, when posting that message last night, I tried to submit one again to double check... but I couldn't find the link.
Ah, well... I guess the Department of Satire will have to wait a few months...
On a vaguely related note, about how long should it take to reach 500, assuming I'm at 67 right now, after about four weeks? I assume population is based on some kind of geometric progression, but I haven't really been keeping track of my population growth... and I'd wager that many factors influence it.

While you are waiting, I would suggest you post your issue in the issues section of the nationstates forums, and see what other people think about it, if there is anything to change, so that when you do get the 500 mil population, you don't have to deal with making it better, taking out and adding things to it.

Good idea. But the mods will edit it as needed anyway.
And yes, the average rate is 500 million per three months. However, it is random - I think Tuesday Heights hit 500 in 66 days. (According to her)

The higher the quality, and the better it is when the Issue Mods get it, the more likely the chance that it'll enter the game similar to how you wrote it.
