mIRC and Contacting Mods for Help

Hello,

I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of good that can come from having direct contact with the moderators.

I was thinking about downloading mIRC, but saw that it has a 30-day free period and then needs to be paid for. Are there other free alternatives? I wanted to look into those before downloading it. I'd hate to download this for one use and not be able to use mIRC a month or two from now because I didn't pay the $20.

The reason I want to go onto IRC, is I feel I need to talk to some game moderators about a situation that is developing and would like to talk about it in private. This isn't an emergency, but I was thinking IRC might help.

And yeah, I know this maybe is not best suited for the moderation forum, but my *ultimate* hope is to get in contact via the modcave, and I'm really starting to get frustrated here and I feel a moderator will be able to fix things.

You can continue to use mIRC without paying past the 30 day "trial" period without so much as a hassle. It'll just keep telling you to register.

XChat works well, as does Trillian. Both have free versions.
