How exactly is it that my nation is limited to titles such as 'Armed Republic of' and there are some nations that have titles such as the 'Holier than Thou Empire of' and some really crazy ones. Is it reflected by nation size and government type?

Once you reach 500 million citizens, you may create your own title.

Isn't that more than a year?

God no! It's a few months. I think you reach about 3 or 4 billion by the time you've been playing for a year.

As I've seen population grows by about one billion in six months.

I'll be at about 4.1 billion by the time my nation is 2 years old.

Same here. Growth is roughly 1 billion per 6 months.

Is there anything that makes nations shrink rather than grow or allows populations to stabilise?

What's the algorithm for population growth? I'd imagine it's either exponential or the fibonacci sequence by 5 million.

after 100 million it is 5-8 million a day.

I get the _general_ picture but what is the actual "For day x population=f(x)" formula?

EDIT: I have deduced y=x^(1.3775)+5 where x=days and y=population in millions.
This gives a day 0 value of 5 mil (starting point)
500 lies between day 90 and day 91 (three months give or take a day or so)

These are of course rounded to the nearest whole number as displayed in the screen.
