Sal, can you help me?
I'm sitting at school now, and I was just wondering...
Can I log safely into my UN nation from here?

Since there might be other people here playing, and I have no idea how this system works (and asking the tech folks isn't an option either, since we're not really supposed to play games over here..), and this is a Dutch school..

So, is it safe to boot invaders from here in a break, or will my poor little Un get ejected for that?

I don't really know but if your school has only one IP address, then it should block you out if there are other people in your school with UN nations.

^^ Ok, THAT was unnessecary. Sometimes I wish I was a mod...

But anyway, in case anyone can't read my horrible handwriting, I have a new keyboard now. Sorry, but that particular form of entertainment has ended as fast as it started. ;)

This has never posed a problem before, that I am aware of. Many people, or so I have heard, log in at school or work, whether they are supposed to or not. Just try not to get caught.

Tips for school logins:

Have a legitimate page up at the same time - if a teacher shows up, you can switch.
Use a computer that the teacher can't easily see by standing behind his/her desk or whatever.
If they can easily see it, use a small window so it's hidden by your body.
And only do stuff that doesn't take too long. Leave the big stuff until you get home.

Our school has an .edu thingy when surfing the internet. I don't know if that helps.

DEATinated.

Please remember that if you portray yourself as having mod powers, try to get others' passwords, et cetera, you go bye bye.

Also, choosing offensive names is a prime way to make sure your first post is your last.

The .edu thing doesn't do anything to the IP address, or so I thought.

Nice one, Kat.

I'll have to agree with the new guy, CG.

*growls at new guy*

This has never posed a problem in the past. It's a school, schools are special cases. If you're not sure, then check to make sure that your school's IP is...um...recognisably scholastic. Anything with .edu (and I'm pretty sure that's universal) would be okay.

Anything with .edu (and I'm pretty sure that's universal) would be okay.
Most Dutch school sites that I've seen are part of the .nl Domain Name System (DNS (http://www.internic.org/faqs/authoritative-dns.html)) and don't use the quasi-universal .edu coding. Most of the master domain suffixes (.com, .edu, .net, and sometimes .org) tend to be more Americanized or corporatized, even though they are available to everyone. A lot of non-Americans use .co.uk or .co.nl master domains, though it's a rare USA site that uses .co.us.

It would help if CG would post her school's domain name or URL if she knows it ... or perhaps that information is available to the mods via IP lookup already. Still, us amateurs want to know.
