No, and it's a dumb feature.

I'd assume there are so many people using Jolt overall that the search feature is used a lot and might lag the site if anyone could do it at any time. Lots of forums, for that matter, employ a delay in searches to prevent lagging from occuring.

A search function can easily handle 1000 queries but not every second. A 3 minute limit may be long but this isn't a small invisionfree forum. When you search the script checks every word in its database and that's a lot.

The only problem is that if you make 1 typo in your search, you have to wait 3 minutes.

That's why one checks - and double checks - the text entered in the fields before clicking on the "search" button.

I can't speak officially as I haven't spoken to the Jolt Admins (and, in fact, don't intend to), but like others have said, the 3 minute limit is probably to reduce the load on the forum servers. Forum searches take a lot of CPU effort to search the database; this is why keyword searches were disabled on the pre-migration forums.

As Unfree said: Double-check your search terms before searching.
