Regaining Nations

I have recently been presented with a dilemma...my largest remaining nation, Principally Principals, will cease to exist in about two weeks. Unfortunately, when I stopped playing NS last May, I passed control of this nation to someone else, since it was the founder of our region, The Gathering...Now, it appears that the person I passed it to has gone inactive...I have posted on the regional message boards as well as sending him telegrams to several of his known nations, all to no avail. :headbang:

With the situation having been explained, I want to know if there is ANY possible way for me to regain control of my nation before it ceases to exist...the region is inactive except for my puppets, so he doesn't need it anymore for regional controls, and I would hate to see my last original nation to plunge into the depths of non-existence due to the inactivity of another nation. I beseech you to try to help me in any way possible if something can be done...

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Did you by any chance leave your e-mail address in the nation?

Yeah, you can try to request the password to be reset (here (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=forgot_password)), but if he changed the email address, no, there's nothing we can do about it.

Can't you check against the founder's IP address? If it matches Nucleo's current one, then it would stand to reason that it is his nation.

That is beside the point. If a person give his nation to someone else, he loses ownership of the nation. If the new owner changes the email and password, that is his good right. If that is done, you'll never get it back, unless you manage to get the password from the owner again, or guess it.

Unless the mods can personally and physically verify the identity of the owner of said nation against the one claiming ownership of said nation, then, there is no verifable evidence to prove that the nation asking for said nation is the original owner.

It's the same for those claiming to have more than one person at a computer with two or more UN nations, I'm afraid.

I didn't ever have an email entered, unfortunately...

and my ip address has changed since I created the nation last year...at that time, I believe I was using a school computer, although I think I checked it using the ip 143.195.110.82 once I got internet in my room...I know I created the nation on a comp with a 143.195 address, as it's the ip for all comps at my school...also, it should register as being a .edu address, which should also help identify it...

In response to Tuesday Heights:
What if the nation were to die, then...no one is contesting my ownership...if the person I gave it to came back and wanted the nation back, I would give it to him...I just don't want my nation to die, as it's the only semi-accurate count of my what my population should be since I started the game...

If I need to supply any more information to help get my nation back, I would be glad to...just let me know...

Thank you all for your input into my problem. I hope we can resolve this before it's too late...

PS. I will try to guess the password...how many tries do I get before it locks me out of logging into any nations for a while?
