I just changed my e-mail address on NationStates not less than five minutes ago, and it says I wouldn't be able to access the forums until it was verified.

Well, as you can see, I'm posting, and I haven't verified my e-mail address, yet. In fact, I haven't even received the verification e-mail at my new e-mail address inbox.

Am I missing something?

Well... it seems that that error message was in error. I think it has to do with goofy Jolt/NationStates interaction.

That, or you broke it, in which case men with large cudgels are en route to your home. Nothing personal, of course :p

Are you changing it through the forums, or through the game? You have to do it through the latter.

Sal, I know your question was directed to Crazy girl, but, I'd like to let you know what I had to do, too.

I first changed it via the game. I still haven't received the e-mail confirming this change; thus, I went into Jolt itself and changed my e-mail address there, instantly, I received the confirmation from the forums themselves, and all is fine.

Even though I was "waiting for validation," I was still able to peruse and post on the forums; thus, at least in my case, it looks like the idea of validating e-mails pretty much is a waste of time.

well, i changed it in the game, logged in on the forums through my nation, and tried to change the email here too..
