Lost Resolution

Hello,

A number of us have been building a UN resolution archive ... part of the justification is that the game does not save failed resolutions, and these are important in the UN forum. The other reason is it seems that resolutions get lost ... as it has been brought to my attention that the following resolution passed, but is not in the archive:

(Naturally that is a link to the current thread in the UN forum.)

My question:
Did that resolution pass?

I seem to remember it at the time. If so, why is it not in the history of the UN resolutions. If not, how did it fail or get removed when it was so far ahead?

I've never even heard of that resolution... I guess it failed. It's rare, but there have been times when massive PR campaigns have come out right before the deadline to narrowly defeat proposals, some by as few as 100 votes; this might have been the fate of the resolution you're asking about.

Seriously, because the debate was limited, but the votes were around 16,174 to 3,817 according to G's records.

Here you can see people (including myself) calling it a resolution:

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=309536
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=309828

I know you aren't saying it wasn't a resolution ... but I just think that the posts in all of those threads tend to point towards it showing strong support and then suddenly it was gone!

Posts with HUGE votes in favour ...

How can 9,000 votes change?

Here is the real kicker that it passed ... Joccia was legendary for RPing *very* negative interpetations of resolutions that passed but that he didn't like. He nailed this one (and I'm thankful he did):

I seriously think there are some missing passed resolutions! We have the text of this one, and I think it should be reinstated. If not, no worries, our archive now has it -- but this makes me wonder what else might have been lost.

Curious...

Nothing in the Mod log about it being deleted, so it certainly could have been lost to a server burp. Can't blame the migration, as that resolution was Feb and migration was June... Hmm...

"Legalize prostitution" was Feb 2nd, and "Definition of 'Fair Trial'" was the 14th, which bracket this passport dealie. Looks like this is a question for Sal, so I'll kick this over to Tech.

Actually, there was another proposal just after "Legalize prostitution", called "UN: Space Exploration Code", which was removed for violating Game Mechanics. At the Dutch Forum we were already debating / voting on that one, with our voting halted as that resolution vanished.

Perhaps the removal of "UN: Space Exploration Code" caused the next resolution passed to not make it into the list of passed resolutions?

The data in question was taken from my regional forum in the following thread:

http://s3.invisionfree.com/DU_Region/index.php?showtopic=24

In that thread, I posted as follows:

The resolution "Passport harmonisation" was passed, 16174 votes to 3817, and implemented in all UN member nations.

Following a resolution's passage or defeat, I copy-paste the statement under "Last UN Decision" into a post on my regional forums and then lock the voting thread. Since the data is based on the final vote tally, not the in-progress vote tally, it couldn't have been affected by a vote shift.

I know it has only been a day or two since this was brought up, but I just wanted to make sure that a decision will be reached as to possibly bringing this resolution back into the archive.
