Location for UN Inspired RP

It seems that following the passage of a new UN resolution that players who weren't participating in the UN debate will come to the UN forum to RP. This is fine. But I'm not sure how many UN nations go to the II forum to follow up on RP that might include references to the UN.

Immediately after the passage of a UN resolution, would it be appropriate to temporarily stickie a thread (can you do this) to be reserved for roleplaying out the immediately passed UN resolution. And when the next resolution passes would it be possible to unstickie the resolution and move the thread to II -- I'm assuming by this time that the thread will have lost most of its appeal.

This is just an idea.

This might be a good idea, especially for all those threads related to the recent "Banning Whaling" proposal. Some proposals would need a completely separate forum for their RP'ing, like I expect my "Olympic Games" proposal to be if it passes, but for the little ones, it would help.

For the olympic games, there will be "rules" just like in the real olympics, judged by the IOC. I'm hoping to ask players like Loop, Thel, and Galdago about helping the IOC set up an off-site forum.

But yes, having a stickied thread where we can post olympic RESULTS would be a wonderful way to encourage nations to participate.

UN proposals should have nothing to do with RP, as in the Olympic Games form, but RPing proposals might be a good idea.

Get what I mean? No?
The Olympic Games proposal may be ruled inappropriate.

I think there is merit in roleplaying how our nations respond to various UN resolutions. The Most Glorious Hack (a moderator) recently was on the forum doing this.

But out of curiousity, why do you think the Olympic Games resolution (it got enough endorsements) is inappropriate for NS. I think the resolution is really just a way of saying, "The UN endorses the idea of holding international games." I don't think it is a game mechanics issue ...

But perhaps you are thinking of some other reason / issue that a number of us overlooked. I'd like to hear your thoughts, as I'd hate to be blindsided should somebody see something obvious that we are missing.

Thanks!

I'm just thinking something that can be done totally IC (RPed) shouldnt have to do with the UN. I hate my non-American/British English.

EDIT: Said proposal has been removed, as far as I can tell.

Hmm, yes it has.

BTW - Mik, in the event that the proposal does get back in, pass and we need a forum, I'll set up an off-site one. Don't worry about it.

Good attitude! :)

And I still expect that we can ask for guidance from experienced roleplayers.

I guess I'm the dedicated wet blanket here.

I don't see a need for a sticky for UN wanna-be roleplayers. I think UN roleplay in II or Nationstates ought to be subject to the same thread drift as any other roleplay. If it's exciting enough to capture people's interest, it will stay in play. If not, let it drift.

I actually have been using my subscription and other features (like the ignore) with increasing frequency. :)

And you've convinced me there is no special need here for sticking the latest UN threads.

Not the sort of thing I'm prepared to do. Managing RP is not something we moderators tend to delve into much. It's up to you to maintain it.
