Forum Ideas and Problems

I had a couple of ideas about the forum as well as the need to report a problem with them.

Problem: Jolt search does not see the imported forum topics

I tried searching several times for the large ENPA thread (which I would love to see moved to the archive, since it was such a hot topic and vote), but the system didnt see it.

Ideas:

1. Delete all topics with a low response count: <3 would be a good starting point, particularly any topic >month old.
2. Delete all locked topics
3. Delete all topics that are more than 6 months old.

I think this would help reduce the amount of space being used, which if I remember correctly about the last forum I worked for with this layout.... was a good thing.

Truncate the search tables and then rebuild them. Not rocket science.

I thinks the "ideas" you propose are no longer considerable simply because there's a lot more juice in these forums than they were in the old phpBB ones.

Truncate the search tables and then rebuild them. Not rocket science.

This would, however, mean more downtime for the whole of Jolt's forums. Not sure this is something the Jolt Admins want.

Which I feel is all the more reason why some of the extraneous posts should be deleted. For those searching for a hot response topic from the months before the move, it wouldnt be so hard to search page by page if all the deleted, and low response topics werent there.
