I think it would be nice to have a "Politics and Religion" forum outside of General, because that's all General has been reduced to. We used to have OOC roleplay, worshipping threads, best pranks ever threads, threads discussing thoroughly useless and random things - but now they all get squelched down by "Kerry vs. Bush", "Was Iraq justified", "Is homosexuality natural", "Gay marriage", "Atheism vs. Religion", and most recently, "Anti-Semitism", "Was the Holocaust real" and that kind of thing. I'm tired of discussing the same old themes, can't we return to the diversity of the past?

Actually, I've been on and off NS on different nations since near the beginning of NS, and it's been like this since the beginning.

In some respect, yes, but not to this degree. I've been around since June 2003, and let me tell you: In July 2003, I posted a thread about Lance Armstrong and the Tour de France. It got pushed down because there were threads people liked better - threads like The Volcano (or whatever nightclub RP was in existence at the time), Most Useless Pranks, Word Association, and other lighthearted fun that I could enjoy too. Now, when I try to post a thread about the Tour de France, it's doomed from the beginning. Electoral politics? Nope. Gay rights? Nope. Religion? Umm... umm... Lance Armstrong is Christian? Haha, nice try, you're not talking about his being Christian. It's dead before it even hits the water.

The American presidential election is less than 100 days. By the time that is over, we'll get a few months of the losing party whining and then the political/religious convos will subside some I'm sure.

Can't count the number of times this has been suggested. And shot down. One General forum's bad enough, and who's to say getting politics/religion out of General would improve it at all?

Unfree People: I guess I'll have to respect the majority rule... or mod rule, whatever. But I hope more people are on my side.

I would hope that the mods won't even consider this poll unless an extremely large portion of the nations vote and you get at least 75% of the vote.

That's pretty much what Forum 7 was, but unfortunately we lost that when we moved over to Jolt.

I think if the General forum posters took the forum more seriously, this problem wouldn't be an issue; however, having said that, General - even if we added more forums, more specific - would still be convulted with stupid threads and posts.

Polls shouldn't really be here in Technical.
