We used to be able to get a list of all nations on NS by going to http://www.nationstates.net/forum/memberlist.php

When I try it now I get the standard "The page cannot be found" message.

Is this list still available and has it's address changed since the forum move?

Funnily enough I had already clicked on the Members tab to find that it only lists about 4400 nations, I figure those that have posted on the forum!

I'm talking about the complete list of every single nation that is currently registered on NS, not just those that have gone to the trouble of posting something!

The jolt memberslist shows all members, including the NS members. That's not really helpful

Click 'World'. Click 'List All Nations'. Start clicking the left arrow. Hope you've got a lot of free time.

Is there still a way to sort the nations by post count, oldest, youngest, etc.?

Well, technically that only lists current nations. There's still a database table somewhere with the other 745,000 retired names.

Mind you, I don't understand the desire for this - when I create a new nation, I run the Check Name (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/check_name.cgi) script (which shows both active and reserved names), and keep trying until I get one that works. Seems plenty adequate to the task.

Exactly!

Using "http://www.nationstates.net/forum/memberlist.php" was much easier as you could sort by different criteria and easily jump thousands of pages at a time.

By using "Click 'World'. Click 'List All Nations'. Start clicking the left arrow" you have to search sequentially, which takes forever.

Has http://www.nationstates.net/forum/memberlist.php gone forever?

Well, considering that URL relates directly to the old phpBB forums, then, yes. We don't know whether or not the Jolt forums will ever have its own member list directly for NationStates gamers.

Well, ummm, technically no. If you open a new window outside the frameset, you can directly manipulate the URL. Thus
http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/-1/page=list_nations/start=15
easily becomes
http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/-1/page=list_nations/start=100500

Takes a few steps to fine tune it, but you don't need 30,000 clicks to get to the Vs.

Here's a whacky idea... how about... now stay with me on this one, you ask Jolt themselves?

Since I don't know what you're doing, it's kinda hard to tell you how to improve it ...

Click one of my supplied links. (Don't cut & paste - Jolt truncates the link)

At the end or the URL in the address bar is a number. I started on page 2, 'start=15'. Change that number in the address bar, then hit enter. This will take you quickly to some other page. Nations starting with Nazi- begin somewhere in the 60,000's or so, based on a casual search of 55,000 and 65,000. Given that there are about 105,000 nations currently existing, you probably would want to use numbers between 0 and 105,000.

That cover you?
