Telegram improvement

The telegram system in NS can be annoying and difficult to use. If you want to send a telegram to someone, you must go to their nations page and send it from there. I think it would be easier, if when you go into your telegram inbox, you can adress and send telegrams on the same page. You would have a telegram draft window like the ones currently on everyone's nation page and send telegrams right from your own inbox. This can save time when you are trying to talk to multiple people. Post here with your opinion on this.

You have to go to that nation page to do it? OMG I don't think I can make it, it takes so long.....I don't think my clicker finger can take it!!!

The games free so not everything is perfect stop bitching. This will have to do with jolt btw to not NS because this is Jolt's forum. Jolt don't let you click that name and have it send you to that nations page. The old one did tough, that is something I miss anyway :(

And the Technical forum is for suggestions. This one's not bad, but probably not worth the effort to code. Let Sal decide, why doncha?

This idea is definitely worth considering. I'm interested in hearing more opinions on it.

Apple Zer0, you post was not called for. Just because the game is free doesn't mean that people cannot discuss improvements for it. The rest of your post doesn't make sense.

I strongly agree with this. As a new member of the community, I've noticed how tough it is to send telegrams to a specific nation.

I just noticed that by clicking on SalusaSecondus, I get the option of sending a Private Message. I also noted that I don't have rights to do so. I therefore assume that the PM system has been activated for Mods and Admins, but is turned off for the rest of us. My other assumption is that this was done to limit confusion, since we already have a perfectly adequate Telegram system, and added PMs were unnecessary. I'd be curious if Salusa or one of the other Mods can confirm or further explain that.

As an adjunct to this topic, I see two variant NationStates: the vast majority of players and/or puppets, who only react as a Nation when telegrammed as a Nation the NS Forum members, whose Forum participation usually outweighs their activity in the game proper. There are a few, such as raiders and UN advocates, who might fall equally into both camps, but they're decidedly in the minority. What disadvantages would there be to activating the Jolt PM system? It's presumably already there, so technically it's just switching on an admin setting or twelve. The obvious advantage would be the simplicity of responding privately to a public forum post. Surely that would fulfill Roaming Beasts needs, as most forum software includes the ability to send to multiple and/or manually typed recipients.

What am I missing? Server overhead? Storage space? Spam levels? I can't believe that PMs with, say, a 30-day automatic expiration cycle would add that much to NS's already monstrous bandwidth and storage. Help me out here, Technical forum readers and Mods.
