XML, I believe is the type of code NationStates is programmed in, I may be wrong.

As for how to use it, I have no idea.

Haha, unfortunately, you are wrong.

XML is commonly used for data feeds (pulling together information so that other people/things can access it easily). Here in NS, it is used for displaying national/regional information. You can use it through a variety of ways, including building a national/regional webpage where you don't want to update your information by hand. Instead, you use a dynamic page (or a page which creates itself) through PHP or CGI (which happens to be what NS is created in). Things like the GDP calculator use the facts of the XML feeds.

I hope that explains everything.

Hehe not in the coding, the coding creates XML. XML isn't coding, it's a way to display information. It's similar to HTML - though a bit different.

There's also a little button at the top of the news page that says XML - if that's what you're talking about, that's the newsfeed for the page that an aggregator can read, like Sharp Reader. Just a different way to present the news.

If you write your own DTD, you can use XML to create a whole new markup language.

XHTML is HTML with XML rules (properly nested, attributes must be quoted, lowercase tags, etc.)
