A few questions about Jolt

Okay will we have a direct link and URL related to the nationstates website. Or will it take us to jolt.com?

And what will become of our post counts?

I believe that vBulletin in general has post counts. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing there to be a NS-related jolt URL. One question: Will existing forum topics have the same/similar URLs to the current ones?

Also what Liverpool brings up raises another question.

The forum topics can be made the same right?

All links to forum topics will cease to work.

I don't think you understood my question. I didn't word it very well.

I mean will the forum topics on the new forum be able to be the same.

International Incidents, Gameplay, NationStates, General, etc.

Aah, yes. All the forums will stay the same.

Good question. I would hope so. We don't want a bunch of outsiders just coming in to make one worthless post.

I have a question.

The game down-time for Jolt... does this cut across the update and if so, does that mean that delegates don't need to worry about getting invaded?

The game is down. This means that everything is frozen.

i really really really hope we'll still get more or less static update times, so we can still plan stuff..
if not, it'll kill a lot of the fun in the game (planning, timing, plotting)

Hear, hear.

Although it would be nice to have update times that weren't at 4 AM Eastern Time....parents tend not to appreciate computer activation at that hour, let alone the fact that it's nearly impossible to do anything and get up for work/school....

Okay, so I haven't tried school yet and I think it might actually be doable, as the hour of waking up for school is at the tail end of the current server update.

I think it would be very good if the update was around 4pm (GMT) so that US players can have fun with invading or defending. It would balance things out and make the game far intense.;)

at 4 gmt? that means 5 uk time, and 6 dutch time?
that would mean that update would be while i'm eating dinner, anarch

I understand your point but to be fair the Americans are sidelined with the current situation and i'd prefer both sides of the Atlantic to be able to play the game as equals.

Ahttp://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=25&month=6&year=2004&hour=16&min=0&sec=0&p1=0

That'd suit me fine, and is probably better for Easterners, but I don't know how Pacific coast players would feel.

Also, it may not be appropriate, as thats one of the busy times for the server, so updating right then might seriously slow things down.

The last thing the moderators and Jolt IT guys need on the day of the switch over is all hell breaking lose via invading/defending/whatever on the site.

Hey, whats wrong with being up so early in the morning? I am always up early in the morning. Thats when I live. I don't like America's time schedule, so I made my own. (live in Colorado)

I really agree. Don't take our update times away from us! :P

I think the update times are a bit favorable to those in Europe, but it has been established as such and the more dedicated players abide by it. Whatever happens, I too think, in the interest of the game, it would be egregious to take away update times.

 It finally starts to sink in...

Yup, you defenders are out on your -sses, too. All that'll be left are griefers and RPers. I guess this is how they'll finally separate us dastardly invaders from griefers, and ironically, the latter will remain (while you defenders are just out of a job).

Well, i can't work out how to start a new thread, but my questions - probably - come under this topic anyway.

firstly, why am I 'invisible' (with a big red X) and how can i correct it to show if i'm off/online?

secondly, i seem (evidently) to be able to post here fine, i didn't have to do anything other than login - but my main puppet can't - apparently an email has been sent to me with instructions, although there is no sign of it so far.

???

thanks!
