Income Tax Rate

Why does income tax rate skyrocket as soon as you click "accept" to anything? No real country has an income tax rate as high as most of these game nations.. it's stupid to be honest.

It doesn't always. We had no income tax for a while. Every issue affects stats in a different way.

And hey, most Europeans pay higher taxes than you. :P

Issue choices are extreme. Thus, the economic reamifcations of such issues are extreme as well. This isn't the real world.

Most europeans have higher taxes than the UK?

Obviously this game isn't supposed to be based on reality but it's annoyingly stupid that no matter what you select (other than the issue that says "cut taxes") the tax goes up and up and up... meh it was just a goal of mine to reduce the tax to as low as possible but seeing as that is impossible there's really little to do.

How can a game so boring have so many players?

(Evidence for calling it boring: there's only one thing to do)

Theres plenty to do, look into other stuff, the issues are not the only feature of this game.

There's issues then there's the slow forum... there's nothing else to keep people here.. if I've missed something then please tell me so I can have something to do other than wait for more issues.

There is also the United Nations, and don't forget all the regional politics you can have. I also have no income tax, so it can be done. This isn't the kind of game you would powergame like a MMORPG, this is something you goof around with in your spare time and laugh at all the drastic changes that go on.

The invader/defender wars and the offsite forums can keep me going alone for hours.

As government spending goes up, so do taxes. Admittedly the game is a little basic, Max only designed it to be something a few thousand people might play for a couple of months then leave.
See the NS2 Forum to see about the sequel.

This game is meant to be a political satire and was meant to promote a book, not to accurately reflect RL. Most of the issues after #30 add taxes no matter which option you pick but there are a few that do work to reduce taxes provided you pick the pro-business, anti-government options. If you're still interested in playing and want the numbers I can give them to you.
