World Factbook Entry
I've looked, but did not see this posted elsewhere.
Back in the mists of antiquity when our region was founded, no one knew anything about the World Factnbook Entry. A friend of mine (being urged to join the game by me) recently asked about it, and now I am trying to figure out how to add a factbook entry for the region.
Two of the original players from the region have since quit the game, and their nations are being run by another.
My question is this:
How can I (or anyone else) change- or add- a World Factbook Entry?

Founders and UN Delegates can change the Factbook entry.
To get a delegate, you have to be a UN nation with at least one other endorsement. As there's only one UN nation in your region... you'll need some more people to come.
Yikes, that must be the least active region I've ever seen:

Only if Delegate controls are on.

Thanks for the information, but I really need details. How does the region founder change the settings for the region? The three remaining players aren't really interested in the UN, so that idea is right out.
I appreciate the assistance.

Back when most of us were just getting involved, it was next to impossible to get into the forums. We made a few posts on the regional board, then began running everything via MSN Messenger (and ICQ, for a little bit). We still do most of the regional work that way, and I believe there is still a post so stating on the regional message board.

For a founder (or UN Delegate with permission) you'll get a link saying 'Enter Regional Control' below where it shows the UN Delegate and Founder of the region, Number of nations and the option to move.
for example (I'll use my region)
"Tired of life in Scroll Islands? Then move to a new region!
[Enter Regional Control]" <----- Click that
Once on the page, theres aload of settings which are easy to change.

Thank you very much. Exactly the information I needed.

How bizarre.
Forlorn Hope does not have a listing for "Founder".
Does anyone have any ideas?

(1) Get a Delegate.
(2) Get all members to leave the region and rejoin following server update. The first to rejoin will become Founder.

I guess we'll try that, then. Thank you.

No problem. However, just note that a Delegate cannot eject large percentages of your regional membership - this would be griefing and would be ground for moderator action.

The simple and sensible World Factbook entry for the region "Arctic" was replaced a couple
of days ago by a silly message from The_Ronald_McDonald. It is not
clear that anyone had legitimate authority to do this: the founder doesn't
seem to be present and there is no UN delegate. Moreover, no record
of a change in World Factbook entry appears in the Regional Happenings
record.
I have left Arctic and created my own region, but I'd rather be in the
original region without the defaced World Factbook entry. Can anything
be done?

Hmm...you need a Delegate to change the entry. When I get home later today I'll see what I can do to help, but you will need two UN nations in your region (one if Northestia will be active in the immediate future).

Dear Powerbroker,
Wrangell is not a member of the UN and
currently not in that region, either (as I
noted) (I set up my own region so that
I don't have to look at the stupid factbook
entry).
What bothers me is that it seems that the
factbook entry was modified illicitly; I don't
think there was a UN delegate at the time
the change was made and no record of the factbook
change appears in the Regional Happenings; I'm not complaining if the
defacement was the result of a genuine
power grab in the game, but I wonder if
this was really the case.

I now think I understand how it was done, apparently legally. So
I have no complaint to lodge in _this_ forum.
