I got the following in my e-mail box, just wanted to let Rep and everyone else know:

Are you sure it isn't from rep?

Sorry, had to ask ;)

I got one of those myself after I entered in the forum title contest. Sadly, I don't open files from unknown senders (seemed funny that Rep would send a .zip file), so I promptly deleted it. I hope Rep hasn't gone evil on us!

My guess would be that it's something on Hotmail's part.

No, it's one of those viruses going around which forwards them to everyone who's ever e-mailed you; I already received it via this e-mail addy, so, there no harm in opening it.

I just wanted to bring it to Rep's attention.

Very weird... my system's clean as far as McAfee can tell (I'm running another scan just to be sure.) I've been getting some odd emails in my hotmail inbox saying messages I'm sending have been bounced back by hotmail's virus scanner... but the addresses being sent to I've never seen, let alone emailed. My best guess is that somebody has my mod email in their address book, and whatever bug it is spoofs the from: address by ganking addresses out of the infected computer's address book. (To my limited knowledge, faking message headers like that is pretty easy.)

I'll let you guys know if my virus scan picks anything up. Thanks for the heads-up!

No problem, Rep, I never suspected you purposefully sent it to me, just because I've been getting the same bounced-backed e-mails.

Well, thorough scan is complete- not a virus in sight!

it is probably Hotmail itself infected, although I have yet to get the thing,

That's usually the case. If only people would realise how easy address spoofing is, and not assume the person in the 'from' line actually sent it...

Fakin email headers, is easy for someone who can be bothered taking the time, but not for a n00b.

The email is a mass mailing worm, using it's own SMTP setting to keep the headers partially intact.

If you actually read them you will find that it is definitely not sent from were it says.

I have recived a number of email from my own company and well I know I didn't send them and none of my employees.
