I've noticed that this thread (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=148676) has 13 pages listed, but when you click on page 12 or 13, you get a message that "No posts exist on this topic." You have to work your way back to page 11 to get any actual posts.
phpBB can do that. I've seen it happen on several forums, mainly on ones with lots of members. Overloaded server, and all that jazz.

You beat me to it. Yes, this is what happens here quite frequently. Once a new page is created in a thread, it stays there is all the posts are deleted from it by users.
