Changes in Nation Ressurrection?

I've noticed two changes in nation ressurection.

Firstly if you had a custom flag, you now have a defualt flag instead of no flag.

Secondly, if you arrive from a region non-existant at the time of ressurrection, then you arrive from a region "Unknown".

So I have two questions:

Why the default flag?
Having no flag can be kinda cool, and Flags *are* a very recent concept.

And.

Why a region "Unknown"?
I appreciate the idea, it means if you had a region, the founder died, and so did the region, now people can't see what dead region you came from.
But why a region? Isn't this kinda unfairly favoring this region? Why not just "[time] ago: [nation] (http://www.nationstates.net) arrived from unknown."

Peace, Truth, and Justice,
Luke

I believe that "Unknown" is a player created region that happens to coincide with ressurections. Should that region be renamed, or go away, it won't show a link anymore.

Please don't take my fun away, I saw the region "unknown" died a couple of days ago, and I thought it would be nice to 'hawk' it

That's clear, but why is there a link in the first place?
I'm pretty sure that this is new, at least, I'd never seen it until about a month ago.

It comes and goes. When its gone, no link. When it's there, the game pops up a link. Quick-n-dirty coding, most likely.

*shrug*

When I ressurected a series of my brother's nations a few months ago that happened. I guess the regional events roll so quickly that if you blink, you miss it.

Well, it wouldn't be that hard to upload a transparent gif file for your flag. It would be even easier to upload an entirely white flag.

Also, was it a broken link or just no flag at all?
