What threads did you mods delete? I must have lost about 1,200 posts! I've not even got over 10,000 posts anymore!

Well... the Word Games got nuked, as did about 100 pages of posts that were 5 or more months old.

And, of course, all those that were in Forum 7.

The general forum probably got targetted as it seems to be the forum with most posts, and as its not hugley relevant to the game, to free space on the server, the general forum was targetted/purged.

I dont know this for sure but it seems logical to me

Me too. Hopefully, this purge will have got rid of those threads that I used to post in (such as the word games and volcano and NEE's house).

Yup, back in the NS2 forums, the official NS forum hardly ever works for me, and Ive found a good time to get on. Thats why we havent spoken in ages :)

I didn't lose alot of posts.

Even if I did, postcount doesn't matter to me.

as far as i remember, I havent ever posted in the general forum so i didnt lose many posts.

(not that I have alot to lose in the first place lol)

I was beginning to ge paranoid, because one day I'd lose 50, the next 70, and I thought the purging was over- then I woke up to find 770 posts gone today.

I will say that if it continues, I'm outahere; it's too discouraging.

Oh, and delete the lame RPs, please, they're worse than any wordplay.

No complaints here - looks like it boosted me up to #78 on the Memberlist. :P

If the purge helped the server (it does seem to be great for this time of day), I'm happy.

Heh. I wondered why my post count suddenly shot up to 6038 when I had been at about 6008. I've been keeping track of every individual post I make, kindof a karma excercise I guess (well that and I hate the number 7 and am trying to avoid reaching 7000). That you guys deleted forum 7 and I lost about 70 posts, bringing me down to 5098 explains it (ugh, more 7s). Of course I shudder to think that I may have climbed even higher on the memberlist. I have less of a life than probably everybody here, but must it be so obvious? :P

I do feel kinda sorry for the Generalites. They're the ones who really care about post counts (my complaining about it is really more of a private joke than anything, it's fun to watch it fluctuate around 6000 as I post more, and then the purges or thread deletions come), and they're the ones who are affected by it.

I think I lost... oh... two posts. Because of a certain time when I was bored and decided to 'spam' General, posting in word game threads and the like.

Watch while I go cry myself to sleep now. :roll:

At one point Tremalkier suggested eliminating post counts.
There weren't any really good arguements for keeping them on that thread

I wonder if it'll possibly happen when we move to Jolt.
Of course with no post counts, I'd also feel less inhibited about posting dumb and random things, but I suspect most people would post fewer dumbe things.

I lost zero posts between the last purge and this one, and I know that I have a lot of old posts in General.
In fact, almost all of my posts there are almost at the cutoff date, since I've been virtually avoiding General for some time now. (Every time I look at it, I'm sorely tempted to post on a political thread. The last time I indulged I got drawn into an arguement that lasted for over a month.)

Well we're supposed to be getting faster anywhen with Jolt, and from what I've heard the main problem isn't in the number of posts, it's the number of active users (although I could be misremembering).

My problem with the spam that arises from postcounts is trying to wade through threads in General, and the fact that whenever I try to post an original topic there it either gets buried or spammed (usually the former).

That would eliminate a quarter of the forum! :shock:
And deleting Hack's and and TRO's posts would leave approximately two threads with anything beyond the starting post. :p

They're slowly deleting all the posts so soon there will be nothing, we will all cease to exist :shock:

Possibly to do with the move to Jolt, this server is clogged up
