Why is RP used for war and not rules.

I have read countless post from people who go to war and use RP. but i see flaws in this system such as the lack of damage provided. overpowering militaries from brand new nations, and Unlimited numbers of troops. plus no real way of deciding a victor.

Nobody forces you to recognise nations doing things you consider, errr... unlikely.

There should be enough nations playing a style that suits you.

Or RP that doesn´t include war...

Shiny edit: And taking a wild, unjustified guess, this is the wrong forum for this topic...

What you are seeing is a player acting in "godmode" (it comes from the old game Doom where playing in god-mode made you invincible.) It's usually frowned upon.

There's a few rules for war, usually agreed upon by the players at the beginning or as things go. For example, many people RP only in modern times, so they disallow space tech.

As for the overpowering troop numbers, we once tried to establish a limit based on population... something like 2% of the population could be military for a free democratic nation and up to 5% for a military dictatorship. (If I remember correctly, the US only has something like half a percent). It didn't work; most people (including myself) don't want to try and check an enemy's population, especially if the forums are acting trippy.

So, now people just say "be reasonable, be defeatable, be teachable," and leave it at that.

Role play requires cooperation. Cooperation entails maturity. Many players don't have maturity, therefor there is no cooperation, and no good role playing.

Free form role play (what NationStates is) means there are no rules regarding RPing. There are guidlines, and some of them are followed by most players, but nothing is set in stone.

There are enough people in NS that you will find someone suited to your style of RPing. Just invite them to it.
