Are My Topics Supposed to Be Disappearing, Or is it Just Me?

Two of my large, complex RPs have just disappeared out of nowhere in the last month or so, and I am extremely pissed over it. I, along with the others involved, put a tremendous amount of energy into these stories, and I would like for them to come back from where ever they disappeared to, preferably with all 20 plus pages intact. At least give me an explanation of where the threads went, and why, please.

IANAM, but if they haven't been touched in a long time, the forum code will often delete old threads. It's to save server space. Of course, if you wanted to host the threads on your own site, with bandwidth costs out of your own pocket, it wouldn't be a problem.

supposedly after a certain amount of pages threads are deleted... also phpbb randomly makes tyhreads disappear and reappear later... the mods could also be screwin with u...

I don't think they were deleted because they were old, as I had replyed to both of them on the same day as they were deleted. I know that threads can get up to 25 pages without being deleted, as the topics in question were. Unless the Mods are feeling especially sadistic, I don't think it's their fault, but if they can get the threads back I would be eternally grateful (although I only really need the one that was deleted today back). The thread I really want back is Aelosia's "Aelosia hits 1 Billion!" thread.

Sometimes the threads are swallowed by the forum and regurgitated again, because of how large the forum is, all you can do is wait.

supposedly after a certain amount of pages threads are deleted...

Incorrect. Threads in General are locked at 65 pages, and then deleted if they are mostly spam and/or word games.

also phpbb randomly makes tyhreads disappear and reappear later...

Incorrect. This server has a far greater load than it was designed to handle, consequently we experience errors, glitches, and bugs. Disappearing threads is one of these glitches. It often happens when someone posts during periods of lag.

the mods could also be screwin with u...

Incorrect. We've got more than enough to do, we don't really have time (or interest) to randomly "screw" with players. Besides, once we delete a thread we cannot retrieve it.

Wow Kwas, you're on a roll. Just a bit of advise for you: either don't post something unless you are 100% sure, and if are pretty sure, and still want to post it, make sure you leave a little note saying that it could be wrong, and the person should wait for a moderator to respond, and not take your word for it. :)

So there's no way to get the threads back once they've glitched out of the forum?

Happened to me too, my "Fighting the Convoy Through" thread disappeared sometime today. It's a shame but it happens.

The RP "A Royal Ball" disappeared for a few minutes one day, after I deleted three extra posts when I quadruple posted. It's back now.

When they've glitched out, they'll (usually) return on their own. If they're purged to oblivion, or deleted by a mod, you're pretty much S.O.L.

Well, there are a few ways to get back some old threads or threads that have disappeared.

For threads that the forum has gurgled up, you might try just directly pasting the URL into your browser bar rather than checking the pages/search function. iSometimes that works. I don't know why.

Without a search function, if the thread has been dormant too long you may not be able to find it once it does bubble up again.
