So What's this about?

Alright I joined, I've actually been talking to a friend about how we would rule the world. So how does this thing work? I'm trying to figure this out, so I can rise quickly in this. That is what I do, move to the top as quick as possible.

Do some reading about the rules, stickies and stuff. Create yourself a region, and invite all your friends to join. If you have the patience to form a big enough region, you have a chance. If you expect it to happen overnight, you better play another game. :P

Yes, unless you have some very powerful allies, I'd work at it until you think you've got it. To me NS is about treaties, wars (even though I havn't participated in one for I have no army), alliances, trading treaties, making friends, etc. You pretty much can do whatever, in the confines of the rules that is. You can join the UN and try to gain a delegacy postion somewhere, or create a region, or just stay in the Pacific! If you have any questions the best place to ask is the forums. I hope this helped. :)

There is no ruling the world. The game is open ended and, as it has been going for a year and a half, there will always be (many) nations, regions, and alliances that are bigger and more powerful than you will be.

This game is, as others have said, more about diplomacy and politics, as well as making friends and being part of a group of people from all over the world who have different (and therefore interesting) viewpoints about everything.

You will definately not rule the world. But there are many fun alternatives. Me and my friends (Hi New Cyprus!) made ourselves a nice little region, and look at it now. 200+ nations from around the globe and alliances with many prominent regions. Have some patience and with time you may become a world power, which can be even better than a global tyrant.

As the oldest nation on this topic i'd thought i'd step in and say, i've ruled in total with about 15 different regions a total of 200 nations.

Beat That. :)

Actually, I'm the oldest nation that has posted on this topic (unless you're counting puppets that you may have that are older), although I can't quite match your empire, I must say (BTW, was the whole "African countries" thing you?)
