Why can't I take a dead nation's name?
Almost every name I check tells me it's "Reserved, this name belonged to a former nation." It is my understanding that this means the nation in question no longer exists. Is it ever possible to take the name of a dead nation?

Nope. If a nation dies of inactivity by mistake, and someone takes the name, and the owner wants their nation revived.... how is that going to work? And many nations have a rep. If I died, and someone came back with my name who spammed/flamed/griefied...my reputation would be tarnished.

The last option in a poll is a paradox. You can not be sure that the nation will not intend to revive itself.
Then perhaps only recycle the names of nations that existed for a short time. If someone starts a nation, plays for two weeks, and then leaves the game never to return it can only be assumed that he or she will not suffer greatly from a tarnished reputation. I do, however, understand why a nation that has worked for several months to build up a good image would not want some newb like myself to take the name and ruin it.

Poll deleted since there wasn't any real need for it.
