I apologize if this is in the wrong forum or has been asked (couldn't find it).
So I hear about this war thing. How does it work? I see no "shoot a missle at ___" option.
Then there's regions.. why join one? Social thing?
I only ask because I seem to sit, bobble about, and answer issues. Am I missing more?

There are two types of wars: role-playing, which happens between nations, and takes place on the forums. You come up with a scenario or join in someone else's, and make it believable - or they'll let you know!
Gameplay wars is what happens within regions (politics) and between regions (invasions and defences). The main unit of currency in all this is the endorsement - for which you have to be a member of the UN - and because you can only have one nation joined at a time, it enforces the "one member, one vote" rule. So it's more of a team game.
Choose a region to suit you: the Unofficial NS Directory thread near the top of this forum lists significant ones by geography, politics, themes, size, and whether they are invaders or defenders.

PS: As UN Delegate of Urbanites (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_region/region=urbanites) I happen to think they're a pretty good region: nice size, active, fun and "on the side of the angels". But then I would, wouldn't I? :wink:
