Wipe the slate clean

I propose that the creators "clean the slate" on U.N. resolutions. So that we could redo olderer resolution passed with less than the general population at this times concent. for instance the "Fight the Axis of Evil" resolution passed two to one!

I don't think clearing them out is a good idea, but I do think the rules about proposals should perhaps be changed a bit, especially relating to past resolutions. The way UN proposals are moderated seems rather harsh to me, and that's one of the reasons I've never submitted one.

Changing game mechanics to allow repeals would open up some healthy debate and could well result in cleaning at least some of the slate.

I've been supporting a repeal mechanism since September. Unfortunately, it seems that one won't be added in NS1.

Another point-- a lot of the stuff passed in the real UN is only applicable to those who say yes. (Also, the NationstatesUN passes some stuff that wouldn't fly simply because the UN doesn't have that power-- Legalize Prostitution, for example.)

So I like the idea of code to allow repeals, but as Goober said, it probably won't happen in NS 1.

Note the following things about "Axis of Evil"

1) Proposed by: Maxtopia

Maxtopia was Max Barry(glorious and benevolent ruler of NationStates)'s Nation.

2.a)Implemented: Tue Nov 12 2002
2.b)Since the rise of civilization (November 13, 2002),

The resolution was passed the day before "The rise of civilization" (the grand opening of NS).

I leave you to draw what you will from that.

Clearing the UN proposals would make all those anti-UN supporters out there very happy. :P

Mabye we should just have a revote on the first one since only three people voted in it. Even if we disagree with all the others, they passed in a fair and democratic way (more than three votes). We just cant repeal the proposals because we didin't vote in them.

Either way, I doubt that Max would just let us repeal his proposal though.

Repeal is fine, provided the resolutions stay in the log. I'd hate to lose that history, especially since we lost a lot of history when Technical was purged.

Also, nobody playing this game is affected by Fight The Axis Of Evil as far as game mechanics are concerned. Only nations active at the time had stats adjusted by it, and no extant nations existed then.

the thing is, that the 'fight the axis of evil' resolution would affect absolutely NO nations alive today. everyone in this game was created since then. so there isnt to much point deleting it. but if you look at it that way i guess there isnt much point keeping it :?
