I had to wait 45 minutes to log in. I received an error message stating that there had been several attempts to log in from my ip address. I was at home alone, and we only have one computer! I was already logged in, and had not even logged out!

The only thing I can think of is that my son also plays NS, but he was at work. If he had been logging on from a computer at work, could that have been the problem? Or wouldn't that show a different ip address? This is the ip address he probably signed up with.

(BTW I know that only one of us may join the UN, so I won't even attempt to! *Sigh*)

Yep.

Due to AOL's odd usage of proxies, this can happen to AOL users. When you make too many incorrect password guesses in 45 minutes, the system IP bans your IP for 45 minutes. If you are on the same IP as somebody who has done so (which can happen due to AOL allocation), you will also be banned.

The only solution is to dump AOL and get a better ISP.

yeah, as myrth said AOL(and possibly a few other internet providers) use a single IP for multiple people.

I have AOL and sometimes this happens to me usally you just have to sign off and sign back on and it will give you a different IP address

Also:i think you can the UN, as your PC will be indentifiable(sp?) from other computers, as there is an ID your isp will assaign to your comuter,

so when you login to NS, your conputer will look like this:

30.6.187.9:78768 (just taken random figures there)

so they can make sure that even though you have the same ip as everyone else, you will still be able tojoin the Un
