NationStates Jolt Archive

Started this activity today.
There are over 120,000 countries and 14,000 regions.
I'm looking for a region to join, but there are 1000 pages of information to get through.

I wish to select regions:
1. With more than 20 countries
2. That have a UN delegate

Then manually search from there.
Is there a way to do this, or do I have to go through 800 pages of weak / innefective regions?

EDIT: since it's almost the same topic...
Perhaps there could be a Nation search feature that restricts by population, or number of issues per week, or time since leader activity?

I could use some information, but 120,000 nations is too much to digest.

I was going to suggest something similar, but we could have real time search (i think thats the name for it).

For example, I can't spell qaaoluchoura (sp?)'s name, so when I search for him to drop him a TG, I can't. Also, his region is hard to spell as well (I just think he doesn't like me very much. :wink:). So instead, I could type "qaaol*" and his name would come up. And instead of brining you straight to the nation's page, you have a list of results.

Also, for regions, If I type in USSR, I would get results that have similar key words like CCCP, USSR, Russia, Motherland, Communism, Red, etc.

Maybe a WFB entry keyword search as well.

The region and nation info is stored in a flat file system, not a proper database system which means creating new features such as this would require a drastic rewrite of NationStates... which isn't going to happen.

(Unhappily starts sifting through 1000 pages of spam regions)

You can search by factobbok using google. I forget the exact way.....hold on

It's a namesearch but I still hit all the spam regions with only 1 member. :/

The fact that a search like this can't be done is why some players make directories of regions and such. You can browse Gameplay for a bunch of regional ads and this (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=130266) regional directory.
