This isn't that important, but last week I wanted to use the word S-c-a-p-e-g-o-a-t in a serious RP post (I ended up having to change it to 'fall guy', which is nowhere near as stylish), but it kept getting automatically changed to "g0at".

Is it really necessary that the forum does this?

EDIT: although I actually spelled it with an o, rather than an 0, the word 'goat' in the title of this post was automatically changed. Stop it! :x

It's either that, or put up with gōatse being spammed around.

Just to tell you in simple terms (I've never seen it) but it's a rather digusting image. RATHER disgusting. I know nothing about it other than that.

The image happens to be mirrored at a site with gōat in the URL, so it is the only way of dealing with it.

Just hit the windows key and R and type in charmap. Pick a random o letter and use that instead.

Oh... it'd be more useful if the forum simply did that, instead of replacing the whole thing with g0at. It even removes the 'scape' part. Oh well, I'll find a way round it.

It's not that bad. I laughed like a lunatic the first time I saw it. Tubgirl isn't all that bad either. That or I just have a really sick sense of humor, which is more likely.

Yes, this does work, but use it with caution. Using that trick with words that are filtered for being profane (ie: fuck) is strongly frowned upon.

As for the original question of "why do we have it?" Well, you can thank the Michael Jackson spammer for that. We added that word filter after he spammed all the forums with that image, causing GMC, Rep, and I to spend hours in the morning, deleting puppet after puppet for several weeks, time and time again. This eventually led to the current problem of a major NZ ISP to be completely banned.

In otherwords, between the picture and spending mornings deleting 20-30 puppets of someone dedicated to spamming that image all over all the forums, I really don't care if you have trouble using "scape-goat".

Couldn't you just block go-tse.cx? / go-tse.org/mirror out? I mean, I too would like to use the word "scapegoat" :P And I'm sure there are others.. you don't have to blank out anything with the word "goat" in it.. Well, considering g0atse.cx was shut down, just block out anything with the word g0atse.org and g0atse.tk :P

Take a look at your post, Doujin, and see that all of those have been censored. We had to add it for goat because several mirrors saved it as random_website/goat.jpg

Trust me, we don't add these things willy-nilly. And like I said, goat was added because we were getting bombed one morning, and were desperate to stop the pain. We even banned 219.*.*.* No, that's not censored, we issued that broad of a ban. That's how bad it was.

I'm not trying to lure anybody to check out the site, but I just went there to confirm my suspicions, and was greeted with a message saying that the domain was suspended. Unless it comes back up, I'm pretty sure we don't need the filter anymore.

It's mirrored at other URLs containing goat.

It's freaking everywhere. I had to hunt down a whole bunch of mirrors when we were trying to stop the pain. "hello.jpg" was another. I even found online petitions to .cx to bring it back. There's some real sick bastards out there.

Edit: And for those who wondered what would happen when a word censor contains a censored word, look up, heh.

I think there's also a [goatse] clan on CS...
