I noticed Myrth's NS II FAQ was made into an Announcemenet, and now it says the thread Myrth started to showcase it before it was made into an Announcement was started by me:

Is that the usual procedure for when an Announcement is made, that the original post is abstracted into the Announcement, and the first post in the original thread is deemed the "creator" of the original thread itself?

It looks like the first post was split from the rest of the thread, then stickied. What happens when a topic is split is that whoever's post is the oldest one split into the thread not containing the original post is listed as the topic author.

The way phpBB works is that the oldest poster is the thread author (since obviously no one could have posted before them, the time loop a few months ago not withstanding). When the mods split a thread, though, the oldest post in whichever thread doesn't end up with the authors first post is considered the topic post for that thread, and whoever wrote it the author of th topic.

(that sounds either redundant or confusing, which was it? :P)
