To improve democracy in each region I propose a new organism in each region: The Regional Council.

The president of this Council would be elected by all the members of the region (not only the UN-members). Each country could submit a proposal (that only concerns its own region) and then all the members of the region shall vote it.

If approved, the proposal will be automatically implemented in all the members of that region, affecting the nations very strongly.

What do you think?

It sounds about as good as it did the last time something similar was suggested, but it's to big of a change and it almost certainly won't happen...

Naleth, couldn't whoever does the coding simply* put the UN program into the regions? Or maybe...regions of +200 nations or something, or the Pacifics...

Just a quick reminder: All I can base this on are educated guesses and things Salusa and [violet] have said about how the game works (nothing specific really).

The thing is that the UN and the Regions are structured entirely differently. The code that runs the UN works well for however the UN is structured, but it would likely have to be rewritten almost from the ground up to be applied to regions.

I've done a decent bit of scripting (although I don't know Perl - the language the game is coded in, so all I can talk about is a general "what languages are like" sense) and I started learning Java (the programming language, not the webb-based scripting language "Java Script") last year. I only wish similar algorithms could be copy/pasted and just work ;)

This can be done without adding more tedious code. Go look at the resources in Africa - a precedent that a Regional council can prevail in RP.

This will not be added to the game.
