Flags Size
Ok I have tried and tried and tried again and for me it is impossible to get my flag to 6kb. I just want to know how I can get it to 6 and why the fuck it has to be so dam low in the first place.
1. Make the image smaller, use fewer colours and/or save it as a lower quality.
2. Try saving it as a .gif file
Flag's need to be under 6kb because it is more economical. Larger flag sizes mean more bandwidth is consumed. Bandwidth costs money.
What program are you using? Something like MSPaint probably includes a lot of extra garbage that makes the file a lot bigger.
If have/are using Photoshop, there is an option called "Save for web..." that allows you to save the file without all that extra stuff, and it gives you a much better interface (sliders, optoins, before-after pics, and an exact file size estimate) to save the file with. If you don't have Photoshop, post the flag (unedited) either on your own site and link to it, or on the East Pacific forums (don't have the link with me, check "The East Pacific" 's world fact book entry for it) and Loop (or someone else) can shrink it for you.
Also, because of various complicated reasons that I probably don't understand involving the difference between whatever drive format the Linux OS uses and the NTFS format WinNT uses (or FAT if you use Win98), the actuall limit is ~5.5k, not 6k...

Naleth, thanks for the shout out.
the reason your flag isnt working is when you save it it is probably saving a cute little icon preview and those take up quite a bit of space, also 5.5k is what the actual limit is.
just post it on the ep forum and I can fix it for you.

a lot of us cannot afford photoshop, fireworks, jasc paint shop pro, bryce, rhio, or whatever the higher than pain programs are called. I had loop do my flag for me.
So, if you want a cool, flag, ask 1 Infinite Loop, and he will do it between make out sessions with LadyRebels. lol
