It appears that my nation has been hacked, and I am unable to gain control of it. I do not know why this was done, but I am not in possession of Thomasia to log in under the game. I am able, fortunately, to log in these forums, and I would appreciate whatever help you can give.

You can cross-reference my IP address, or e-mail me at my account to verify my identity.

On a side note, it's pretty pathetic for someone to hack someone else's nation just to gain control. Yes, I might have the oldest remaining nation, but this sort of behavior is just inexcusable and juvenile. I know Robin was telling you this happened, so he can contact me, if you want to pass instructions.

I also filed a report with the admin to explain what happened.

Good luck with this. I hope you are able to get your nation back. It appears that hacking nations is a common thing here. Maybe we could get a feature that asks a personal question (like mother's maiden name or pet's name) if someone manages to log into someone elses account and tries to change the email. That way the owner of the nation knows that their nation has been hacked (due to the password being changed) but can easily request the password because the email wouldn't have been changed.

Hacking nations isn't as common as one thinks. Though, when it does happen, it usually occurs thanks to scams (such as the JARROS-incident) or do to the auto-login feature.

Good luck also in regaining control of your country!

I did reclaim my nation thanks to the help of a number of people and our friendly admins. Thanks to you all. :)

For that matter, there is a News announcement related to hackers. Some offsite forums have had problem, which we're seeing. Please read it.

Thats just sly, stealing any nation is bad enough, but presumably this was a regional forum, its like robbing from your own people.

I wonder what type of forum it was? Invisionfree admins cant view the passwords, nor proboards as far as I know.

There are apparently glitches which allow board Admins to read passwords, at least on proboards.

I would advise everyone to only register on boards where you trust the owner or Admin. Admin and sometimes the Mods of all boards immediately gain your IP address, which can also tell the board owner your RL location (and in some cases where you work or go to school), etc.

If you do register on any offsite forum, it's wise to make a different password for each one that cannot be used to hack your NS nation or any other offsite account. I hold no official NS statements here, but as the owner and root admin of a few different offsite forums, I've seen this kind of thing happen before. It's just not worth the risk.

We're glad to have you back, Thomasia. :)
