Control of a region

I sincerely apologize if this topic has been covered elsewhere already, or if I'm putting this thread in the wrong forum. I mean well, really. :)

I have had the most endorsements in my region for almost seven hours now, yet I have not been made the regional UN delegate. Is this a bug, or a designed delay period?

Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

You have to wait until some time in the morning (qround 5 or 6 AM EST) for the delegate update to occur.

In addition there is another evening update around 8:00 PM EST that only deletes inactive nations and empty regions. It does not make you delegate.

Thanks for the info!

It's 6am EST now. It hasn't happened yet, but I'll be patient. :) I'm curious why the system is structured that way. Not angry or anything: just curious.

Well, if it were checking for delegacy switches continuously, the system would have to check all endorsements in a region whenever someone gave or dropped an endorsement, or moved to a different region (for both depart and arrival region). So, if someone were to move from one pacific region to another pacific region, the system would have to check 16000+ nations and see if a new delegate would have to be appointed... and do the same again for the next nation that moves. The server isn't even remotely powerful enough to handle that kind of load, so now the updates are done once a day over a period of 3.5 hours, one region at a time, starting at 9:00 am GMT.

Ofcourse, a different way to tackle that would be to maintain lots of tables describing the endorsements given and received and update the tables continuously, but that's just not the way the game was implemented from the start. It wasn't intended to contain 130,000+ nations in 13,000+ regions.
