Two things about nation creation

1) Why does the game automatically capitalize the first letter of a nations name if it is left uncapitalized?

For example, I have nade a couple of nations that start with the word "the." In this context, it makes a lot more sense to have "the" lowercase (like it is in any kind of capitalized phrase when it isn't the first letter). For example, the name "The Empire of the People" makes more sense then "The Empire of The People."

2) Shouldn't autologin be turned off by default? If someone finds NS in a public place (like a library or internet cafe) and creates a nation there, there is a decent chance that they won't change the settings while they are there if it's their first time making a nation.

To the best of my knowledge / imagination:

1- Readability. Far more people will create a nation without bothering with proper capitalization at all than those where a (subjective) improvement is possible by not capitalizing the first letter.

2- I wonder how many people forget their password almost instanteously, yet manage to continue to play the game for a while thanks to autologin being default. Admittedly, when creating 20 nations in one batch it can get tiresome to turn off autologin all the time. But let's realize that those situations are the exception. Most people have very few nations, and it's very reasonable to favor the casual player in cases like this.

Both issues seem to be a balance between good/negative effects.

EDIT: typo causal / casual

1) The name of countries are capitalised, eg Australia, Malawi, New Zealand, etc.

2) That is for the relevant mod/s to answer.

1 for both - I know it's personal prefrence, and I know that, but if they're going to force capitalization on us then they should at least do it consistently. Only the first letter is capitalized automatically, not the first letter of each name. For that matter, a nation can still have a name in all caps. If they're going to format names in the interset of realism or anything else, it should be consistent.

2 for Bal - This one isn't as much a personal complaint as something that strikes me as a something they might want to change. It's annoying I'll admit, but it only takes about 5 seconds to disable.

It is rather annoying having to block cookies from NS whenever I want to create some puppets...
This does strike me as a good idea.

I've talked to [violet] about this very issue (since it falls under security), and they have chosen to keep it as the default because of the exact reasons described by Ballotonia.

Yes, but "I went to the Netherlands", not "I went to The Netherlands". See?

Good point. :P

Unless they didn't enter an email... (hey, apperently they can't remember a password either).

 What about making it an option during nation creation to start with autologin on or off?

That would make sense.

Although it is likely just me, but it gets under my skin to see nations like "The Free Land of The happy pplz land" and even mores so to see "The Perfect holy loveing landz of Teh p0warful pplz" when they get custom titles (I have a friend who never capitalizes anything when he is on the internet, NS included).

I'd much rather see all lower case beginings than "The" and then only the first eords of the nation and pretitle capitalized. Of course the "The" before the pretitle still would look weird. . .

In some nations, the the should be capitalized.
Example: The Medical Experiment of The Nice Doctor.
The Nice Doctor is a proper noun.

And they can still capitalize the first letter of their nation, I'm just saying it should be optional.

Welcome Back, Qaaol .. let the size 1 font-ing beggin!

Missing the one key like that! And twice! I mean, 2 is pretty close, but 5 is just way out there...
