An Idea for a memorial region

Ok, we have several nations who I feel need ot be enshrined for various reasons. mostly Good nations examples to all

I propose that a region be made, perhaps call it The NS Museum of History
access to this region would e gaurded as once a nation enters there it cannot leave it becomes a exhibit it never ages and is never updated again, basically this would be a place where Nations belonging to influential players went so that they could be seen by others, kinda a hall of legends.

perhaps a player referendum to decide who was able to enter it with perhaps 100 voted needed to be able to enter, or in extreme circumstances entrance could be granted to special nations, again I say once a nation is here it is locked into its current state no UN rankings for each day just a listing of 10 random nations each day. Also the UN status woudl be removed upon entering. and as for the regional message board, allow nations outside the region to post there little bits about natins that they know are there, however NO regional Ads, also no flames. make both big time offences.

for the first nation so enshrined I woudl sugest The Matt Duck, he was killed in car wreck three weeks ago, a great player and a good guy, there are other nations who should be there as well, Feel free to discuss.

Very good idea.

Some of the things you suggest would probably be to much work (the comments for example), but I like the idea in concept. Another thing would be deciding who goes there, what kind of things qualify a nation, ect. I don't think that having a vote is such a good idea, maybe letting it be handled by the mods would be better (like the Archive is).

I like the idea, but I have no clue how much work it would involve...

Perhaps we could delete the nation and leave a "shadow" there.

Maybe if a new forum was made, much like the Archive, and a nation's flag, motto, stats and details were posted there in its own thread, with details of who they were, why they were great, and what happened to them?

The one question would be how we'd handle a returning player. That and the actual decision of who was a good example; would someone like Marathon be included on the grounds that he's a cautionary tale?

it could be like a hall of fame where nations names and motos are put along with a couple of qoutes and links to their greatest threads. Maybe dedicate a forum to it or put it in the archive

This idea sounds more like an archived thread than a region-based place.

Interesting idea. I think that doing this in a locked thread would be the way to go.

i kind of like the idea. but, not being sure just how plastic it is, i'm going to toss this out for consideration. perhaps nations memorializing people from outside ns. it maybe tricking given the nature of some people. but i can think of several that would be worthy of it.

Can mods post to the Archive forum? It's obvious they can Move to it. Perhaps forum permissions could be adjusted if they can't yet.

That way, requests for immortalization could be made here in a stickied topic, much like the Request for Archive topic. A mod reads and grants the request, posting to an unlocked topic in a locked forum. Keeps the thread pure, includes moderator oversight, etc., etc.

I'd surely agree to start it off with that MATT fellow, even though I don't know him. Seems a worthy tribute.

Perhaps we could also have a 'Chamber of Horrors' region where the more infamous could go. Marathon, Beeker etc.

Im glad that here is so much interest in this, the main reason Isuggest a region is because to enshrine the nation is the goal,
perhaps instead of making the regional board a post from the outside the region, make the archived nations telegrams visible to visitors, and to post a telegram to the nations they are visible to people viewing the nations.

As for returns to the game, once you voluntarily submit your nation to it it is like All Dogs go to Heaven, you can never go back.

Nations that get submitted if they are submitted when a player quits logging in, move them there when they have hit natural die off as they would be gone anywho, if they remain there longer thatn 6 months then they are locked in, and if the player returns before 6 months let them have it back.
if after 6 months, no dice.

also I would suggest a paragraph be addd to the national description telling a little history of it.

Well, assuming it's a region although from what Sal said) ... the mods can edit the 3rd paragraph however they want, so that'd be the place to put a description of why the nation was placed there.

I still think the idea of an entirely player-controlled part is a bad idea (i.e. it goes beyond players recommending things). Not all players will agree with every decision, so some people might spam up the player-submitted part of the description. Plus it seems like a whole lot of extra work coding-wise.

I disagree with the 6 month lock-in thing.
If a person returns, the nation should be their's regardless.

I can actually see people coming back and saying,

Hey, My nation got placed in a hall of honor!
Sweet!

although there are those who will be upset, let them have them back but,
if Charlie ever winds the watch, he can never go back.
