NON-NS Viral Warning

First, NationStates is, and has always been virus free. I'm simply posting a message here to help contain the spread of an unrelated virus.

Though technically legal, this is a virus that will propogate through AOL Instant Messanger and will send links to itself to everyone on your buddy list. If you receive a link from a friend over AIM, please double check with them that they meant to send it. Also, it will (I belive), ask to install software on your computer. NEVER install software on your computer from an untrusted source (as is most of the internet).

I'm providing a link to a CNN article with some more information, and to confirm for any healthy skeptic out there, that this one is not a hoax. Several friends have already been infected and sent the links on to me.

Thanks for the heads-up, Sal. I don't use AIM, but friends do.

One of the reasons I hate (with a passion) AOL. Not only stuff like this, but the fact that it screws up your computer.

I've seen something similar, very annoying...

Yes, a big thanks to you, Sal. More people need to be aware of the threat of viruses on the internet.

Yes, like AOL, but the blame cannot be placed just there. If internet users were more vigilant in what they click on via links and open via e-mails, much less viruses out here on the world wide web.
