technical question

21-01-2004, 04:02
I haven’t seen this question asked before; forgive me if I missed it. When I click on the name of a nation from within the fora, a “view profile” page is called. From there, I can find posts or view the actual nation; the latter action takes me out of the fora and back into NS proper. What I’m wondering about is the converse: leaving aside the question of server load, could there be a way when viewing a nation within NS proper to search for that nation’s posts within the fora?

I realize there a freeze on (and I hope your mask is well insulated Sal, I’d hate to see your tongue freeze to that thing!). I also realize that I may be the only person who thinks this might be useful and that even if I’m not, it might be more of an NS II feature.

I've been meaning to suggest this for a while but, likely never would have. I would {obviously} certainly like it.

I shift-click on the Nationname to open the nation in a new window. If I then want to search for posts, a simple cut-n-paste to the search window does the trick.

Three steps instead of one, but it's easy enough. I'd also welcome the feature, but I'm happy with the workaround (when the mighty server permits, that is)

As is clearly shown by the triple post.

Remind of us this after the freeze.

Thanks, Sal, I will.
I gather then, that it is at least in principle, possible?

Possible? Yes. Server hit? Yeah. Waiting till after the freeze? Most definitely.

P.S. No, I do not know yet how long this freeze will last. It shouldn't be too long though.

I hope it goes soon...

That sounds like a good idea although I'm not quite sure about the degree of necessariness.

Currently however that is not possible.

Ah, well, it's only a freeze. Put on a sweater and thow a few more DOS manuals on the fire.
