disappearing topic

A recent topic of mine (Is modern-tech becoming impossible?) just dissappeared. I clicked to check it, the browser crashed, and when I gopt back on it was gone. It does not appear on the ego search or ns forum. What happened? Was this the result of a bug? (I am assuming so, as the tread was several days old, not innapropriate, and the mods usually lock treads, not delete them...)

Your thread was probably lost in the cracks of the server. When the server fails a lot, sometimes threads are lost.
Sometimes they resurface, give it a few minuts and check again. If it doesn't, just re-create it.

This has also happened to an RP thread I was part of in International Incidents... It had been going since before Xmas, and Im pretty sure that it had been posted to within the past day or so, so I'm assuming it wasnt deleted for being an inactive thread, or due to a crash in the servers...
Anyone know if there was a substantive server error, and if lost threads might somehow be recovered?
