I think there ought to be chat rooms in this game. So many times I just want to chat in real time instead of having to come back or refresh my browser for responses. What do you think?

Check the stickies in NationStates and General regarding chat.

If the chat rooms are faster than the forum, I'm all for it. The forum is slow and sometimes you just can't get around to the page you want. :D

I like to talk to NationStates users outside of the forums, either through AIM or IRC.

Download mIRC. Look it up over Google.com (www.google.com). Join the server esper.net. Then join the channel #NationStates for RP chat, or #NationStates_General for General chat.

helllo this is general ducky i agree there should just be a chat room so we dont have to keep refreshing and all this other crap about how i need quiestion to see what my town looks like and i get yelled evertime it making me mad who is wuth me :x :x :x :x :x

and there is alot of othe stuff to i mean who cares about alot of stuff its mostly crap so if your with me just tell me or send me a telegram its faster lots of laugh so can any of you tell me what i can do

Did you just ignore my entire post? :? There is a chat room. You can join it. Just follow the simple directions.

Yes I know there are separated chat room but who wants to navigate AWAY from NS? Also you have to download software where I play mostly on my shool's comp. and were not allowed to download. We need chatrooms on This site.

A chat room on NS? I think this would put a large strain on the server, and make it unstable then it is. I don't see this happening anytime soon, but then again I'm neither a mod nor an admin...

Plus a chatroom would require constant, round the clock moderation and give the overworked mods even more to cope with.

Plus just get more mods. I see posts going up all the time of people wanting to moderate. I think these are all excuses. I'm not sure about the server deal. Not that intelligent. And still, you could think of a thousand reasons not to do it. I'm just saying it'd be a great idea if we had one. That's all!

And considering the trouble I went to to create a simple to use way to access the various NationStates IRC rooms, I don't know why I bother.

How do I access these rooms you talk about

I see posts going up all the time of people wanting to moderate.
And almost all of these people would make unimaginably horrible mods. If anybody was made a mod because they asked over say (well they know who they are I'm not going to name names or this will diress into a "who should be the next mod?" thread), and did not do an exceptional job of it within the first week or two, I would quit NationSate permenately, and I doubt that I'm the only one.

Fortunately the mods are not morons who will chose one of these mod-wannabes (ironically, most of them get deleted rather quickly) as a moderator over a December-April nation (it seems like all of the experienced players {exempting one, founded a week after I was, and one other, founded some time in June} are in those five months) who has been helping in NS for almost the entire time that they were here.

I reiterate albeit the opinion of a player, the mods and hence the official ruling may disagree, just because somebody asks to be a mod, does not make them a good one. It is one of those things where ironically, very often the best people for the job need to be coaxed and pressured into it, and may still turn it down (case in point, Slaggy and Enodia retired).
