Different Means of Sorting

I was wondering if instead of sorting things by < 1 2 3 . . . 15000 15001 15002 > if you could sort it using their first character, sort of like this:

< 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z >

and then have multiple pages inside each of those categories. Personally, I don't think the first mentioned system (underlined above) works well at all, because what if you needed to get to page 10000? And also, if you were looking for a region or nation and knew the first letter but not the exact spelling, it would allow you to search much easier than guessing at what page is S (9000 or 12000?). I think this change should affect every list that uses the first mentioned system (underlined above).

Absolutely. And it's also a bit of a pain, having to go through all the nations whose names start with dashes (or whatever) because they were deleted once, or the ones who use random digit strings, before actually getting to the sensible ones, and only being able to skip 3 pages at a time. THe dashes doesn't denote having been deleted once. It denotes that the original name was taken, so the owner added dashes.

Actually, a better listing is on my list of things to do, but it will be a while before it reaches the top.

In my experience, it's people getting DEATed for doing something wrong and then coming back to the game. But you are perfectly right of course, there are also the innocent ones who just like a name so much they'll use a slightly modified version of it.
